The Development ApplicationPublished by Chris Green on Wed, 09/12/2012 - 00:16
A Development Application (D.A.) is an approval that must be done via the Council your property is located in.
Generally most interior office fitout's or refurbishments do not require a D.A. and can be done under a C.D.C. (more on this at a later date) however, there are times when a Council D.A. is required.
The major triggers for a D.A. (but not limited to) are external works i.e. signage, changes to the perimeter of the buiding i.e. external door's, Hertitage listed buildings and change of use of the tenancy i.e. new education facility in an existing office building. Any project with the above would require a D.A. to be submitted through Council.
There are other factors to consider when determining if a D.A. is required for your project so make sure you seek qualified advice when you first start looking at your new fitout or refurbishment to ascertain if a D.A. is required for your project.
